Gateway to University Honors is a class that all freshmen in the honors program must take their first semester. In this class we learned about the University Honors program more in depth. Specifically, we learned about the expectations and benefits of the program. This class was also a great opportunity to get to know other students in the honors program and discover their thoughts and insights. The first assignments we had was to create a significant event lifeline and share these events to our small groups. Our other assignments included creating a learning portfolio to document each of our learning experiences, writing about our passions and interests, and developing a mock proposal for a self design learning experience.
Gateway to Honors was an important step into the University Honors program. It helped me understand what it takes to be a part of the program, and how the program will benefit my education. UC's honors program is unique in that we are required to be involved in five learning experiences, whether that be a study abroad trip, a research opportunity, or an honors class. I am excited to see what learning experiences I will be a part of as I go through my years here at the University of Cincinnati.
