It's hard to believe my third year of college is coming to an end. I am more than half way through my college career and that is terrifying. I still have no idea where I will end up after graduation. But for the past year I have been learning to make the most of my situations and locations that I am in
I started a new co-op job this past fall at Kinetic Vision and am working there this summer as well. I love my job and I love the people who I work with. I had my eye on this company ever since career fair fall of freshman year. Because the job is in Cincinnati, I have been able to stay close to my family and stay involved on campus. But I have been in Cincinnati my entire life. I want to spread my wings a little bit and live somewhere else, discover new places. Living somewhere new used to scare me, but now it is one my top goals.
I have become increasingly more aware of environmental issues and passionate about eliminating wastefulness in our culture. I am excited to start a self design experience where I avoid creating waste in my daily life. We live in such a consumer focused society that we don't think about the affect of continually throwing out clothes, packaging, and food. For a while I have been interested in using my degree to engineer consumer products and packaging. But recently I have been thinking about how I could do this while making the process more environmentally friendly.
I am still very involved Phi Sigma Rho, an engineering sorority, and Navigators, a Christian campus ministry. Because I joined both these organizations my second year of college, I missed out on being mentored and jumped right into mentoring others. I started mentoring a girl in Navs who I have become great friends with. It has been so encouraging and fulfilling to share each others stories and to learn from each other. I also received my little in my sorority! We have bonded over our similarities and I am excited to help her get involved in Phi Rho. I am so excited to be the role model I never had in these organizations for these girls.
