Working at Therma Tru was a growing experience. It brought me out of my office space comfort level and brought me out onto the manufacturing floor. I learned how to get my hands dirty (and painty) to solve hands on problems. I worked with my manager on the paint line, performing various paint trials in order to verify the painting and drying process.
I also got to know the associates on the paint line. I was scared my first day performing time trials on the workers because I knew very little about their process, but little did I know they were scared of me! The effect of managerial roles within the company became very clear to me. Sometimes people are afraid to suggest changes to those in roles above them, but in reality the engineers really want to make the jobs of the associates easier. I saw a lot of disconnect between manager's perceived intentions and their actual intentions.
