Today was another grocery day. I wasn't planning on going to a Kroger I'd never been to, but I was following my GPS to the nearest Fifth Third to my work and it took me to one inside a Kroger. I took that as a sign I should get groceries. This Kroger was so small so it didn't have a bulk food section! So I literally just bought meat, fruit, and vegetables. Kind of sad, but I got steak and pork chops so I will be eating well the next few days. I've started getting comments at lunch from my coworkers about how I eat real meals for lunch, as opposed to the frozen meals or sandwiches they eat. I'm kind of OK with that. It gives me an opportunity to tell them about my challenge and explain a few ways I am avoiding waste. They might not be changing their disposing habits, but one coworkers told me she is more aware of what she throws away now that I have started this challenge and that is more of an impact than I could have hoped for.
The saddest thing about lunches this week is that I have no snacks again. I know I could go to the Kroger in Clifton or Whole Foods, but let's be honest, I'm very lazy. I'm realizing that I would rather go without something than to buy or make the alternative.
